1. Alligator Capital of Florida: Lake Jesup, which borders Black Hammock to the north, is home to more than 9,000 alligators — the highest concentration of any freshwater lake in the United States. It's a daily reminder that Florida's wildlife doesn't wait for an invitation to join you outside.

Airboat Country: Black Hammock Adventures on Lake Jesup is one of Seminole County's most beloved landmarks — offering airboat rides, waterfront dining, and live gator exhibits just minutes from the neighborhoods we serve. It's the kind of destination that makes locals proud to say they live out here.

3. Genuinely Rural, Genuinely Close: Black Hammock is 100% rural by U.S. Census classification — no urban areas, no subdivisions — yet sits fewer than 20 miles from downtown Orlando. It's one of the last places in Central Florida where you can own real acreage without leaving the metro.

A Wilderness Preserved: The Black Hammock Wilderness Area protects 700 acres of mixed hardwood swamp, sand pine scrub, and pine flatwoods along the Lake Jesup shoreline — jointly maintained by Seminole County and the St. Johns River Water Management District.
