2. A Farming Town Before a Beach Town: Settled in the mid-1880s, the area first grew pineapples and tomatoes before the beach itself became the main draw, officially incorporating as the Town of Pompano in 1908.

3. A Pier With a Revolutionary War Monument: The Fisher Family Pier, stretching over 900 feet into the Atlantic, is also home to a monument honoring the 1776 Continental Marines' first amphibious landing on foreign soil.

4. A Lighthouse at the City Line: The 136-foot Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse has guided ships past Pompano Beach's northern edge since 1907, making it one of the oldest active lighthouses on Florida's Atlantic coast.
